FREIGHT CLASS ESTIMATOR
Less-than-truckload carriers price shipments largely by density. Our free LTL Density & Class Estimator converts your pallet’s dimensions and weight into lb/ft³ density and suggests a likely NMFC class (density-based). Get a quick estimate before you quote or book, and reduce costly re-classifications.
LTL DENSITY & ESTIMATED CLASS CALCULATOR
Enter pallet dimensions and weight. We’ll calculate lb/ft³, suggest a likely NMFC class (National Motor Freight Classification) which is based on density, and total your weight.
Estimate only. Actual NMFC class can depend on stowability, handling, and liability. Confirm with your carrier.

How this estimator works (and why it helps)
What it does: turns your pallet dimensions and per-pallet weight into a density (lb/ft³), then maps that to a likely NMFC class using a common density table. It also totals your shipment weight.
Why it matters: LTL bills are sensitive to freight class. Knowing your class ahead of time reduces surprise charges, reclass fees, and quote misses.
The math: We convert units, compute ft³ = (L×W×H in inches) / 1728 per pallet, then density = lb ÷ ft³. Your estimated class is picked from the density map below.

Heads-up: carriers also consider stowability, handling, liability, and commodity rules. Treat this as a planning estimate and confirm with your carrier.
